In July of 1996, on Summit Street at the National Convention Center of the Church of God Militant Pillar Ground of Truth, the Church of God MPG of T Columbus #1, had it's first Sunday Service. The Pastor, Bishop Gary Cooper Sr, his wife First Lady Glenda Cooper and their 2 children made up the church. Every Sunday from then on, in the basement of the convention center for the Church of God MPG of T, there was Sunday service. Eventually people started coming to hear the word of God, including Pastor Gary's brother Albert Cooper Jr. and his family. As the church began outreaching to the community, the membership grew. It grew so much so that the church services had to be held in the main sanctuary instead of the basement. For the next 10 years the Columbus #1 church made there home on Summit Street as the hosting the national conventions. After 10 years of ministry on Summit Street, the Church of God Columbus #1 moved to Worthington, Ohio, where they now worship.
